New Delhi. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived in India, reached the office of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Friday. The two are believed to have discussed the geopolitical implications of the eastern Ladakh standoff and the Ukraine crisis. No official statement regarding the meeting has been issued yet.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in India on Thursday evening on a high-level visit amid tensions prevailing due to the standoff in eastern Ladakh for the last nearly two years. The Chinese Foreign Minister reached Doval's office at around 10 am. Doval was followed by Wang with his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar will meet.
The meeting between Wang and Doval is understood to have led to extensive discussions on the boundary issue. Wang and Doval are serving as special representatives for border talks between the two countries. Doval and Wang had a long phone conversation in July 2020 to reduce tension in eastern Ladakh.
