Javadekar questions oppositions silence over attack on BJP president s convoy in WB

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday questioned the silence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition parties on the attack on the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J P Nadda in West Bengal.
'The manner in which the BJP national president's convoy was attacked yesterday is highly reprehensible. The Ministry of Home Affairs has called for the report but the West Bengal government is creating such an environment. This is not a democracy. Why are the other opposition parties including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi silent now?' Mr Javadekar told reporters here.
'What has happened in West Bengal yesterday, is absolutely shocking. This does not happen in democracy,' he said.
He said the attack on Mr Nadda's convoy was 'deliberate and planned.' 'This is not done and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will have to take responsibility and ensure that elections ahead will be peaceful,' he said.
On Thursday Mr Nadda's convoy was attacked with stones and sticks allegedly by the Trinamool supporters on its way to Diamond Harbour.
According to state BJP leaders, the BJP national chief escaped narrowly but other leaders along with him, Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy, were injured.
